If you are a computer science graduate, you might have heard about Big-O. It’s basically a way to analyze the performance of your algorithm. There are lots of web pages that go in deep to explain Big-O, for example Harvard University page dives deep into this concept. I was looking for pretty simple explanation, finally found it at http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=227909 Related Link: Big-O Notation – What it is good for?

Welcome Wal-mart!

Wal-mart entered India in stealth mode with the different name “BestPrice Modern Wholesale.”. They should have named it “Best Bazaar” following the local tradition! This entry itself is a big victory for Wal-mart considering the huge opposition from local retailers. Although the media says that mom-and-pop shops would be affected by Wal-mart’s direct entry in India, the truth is that giant local retailers like Reliance and Big Bazaar influence politicians to keep Wal-mart in check. Despite of all these hurdles, Wal-mart entered India with the help of joint-venture with Bharti. We can debate for many days whether Wal-mart hurts small…

London says “No” to Google camera

Angry residents blocked the driver of a Google Street View car when he started taking photographs of their homes. The residents formed a human chain and would not let the car move. The residents accused Google of invading their privacy and “facilitating crime”. It all sounds like a scene in Mumbai or Bangalore. It happened in London. The Street View mapping project allows for 360-degree views of roads and homes using footage taken by a camera mounted on a car. When Google started Google Earth and Street view projects, they seemed to be cool. Not anymore. Terrorists used Google Earth…

$100 Oil and Rs. 1 Lakh Car

Our community member funlover wrote a thread about $100 oil. I agree with his arguments. Indian infrastructure needs to be improved before India can allow Tata to flood the roads with cheap cars. Tata is ready to launch the one lakh rupee car in Delhi’s auto expo starting January 10. Let the God save India’s roads.

VSNL plans to invest Rs. 1,000 crore for its WiMAX services to be rolled out in several cities. VSNL already runs a WiMAX service for enterprises in Bangalore and has been allocated spectrum for another 50-60 cities. The company hopes to roll out the services in at least 100 cities before March 2008. This is a good news for all Internet enthusiasts.
