Thumbs up Life is a Gift...

Once a young man was about to be graduated. He had been longing to buy a sports car. As his father could afford it, he told him to get one for him on his graduation day.

The graduation day came. The boy’s father called him and said, “I am very proud of you, my boy…” and gave him a gift wrapped beautifully. The boy opened the gift and found a lovely, leather bound religious Book, the Bhagavad Gita.

The son was disappointed and became furious too. He shouted at his father, “Is this all you can get me with all the money you have?” He threw the book away and left the house never to return.

Many years passed and the boy grew up to become a successful businessman. He built a beautiful house and had a loving family. One day he remembered his father and realized that he would have grown very old (as he had not seen him since the day he left). He thought that he would visit his father. Just then he received a message that his father had passed away leaving all his possessions to him.

When he rushed to his father’s house, he was feeling very sad. He began to look at his father’s belongings with tears in his eyes. He was filled with grief when he found the Bhagavad Gita, still new, just as he had left it years ago. He turned the pages with tears and suddenly an envelope taped to the last page fell down. He opened it to find a car key in it. It had the dealer’s name, the date of his graduation day and the words PAID IN FULL.

Many a time we do miss such Blessings and opportunities just because they are not “wrapped” in the way we expect….A little more patience, perseverance and appreciation, respect and regard for our loved ones would help us always to attain happiness in life...

Agreed....patience is what most of the people lack. Parents love wrapped in any form is still a blessing to their children. Children will understand their parents feelings only when they become parents.

Thank you Supriya. I totally agree with your statement. The anxiety and love and pain felt by our parents can be thoroughly understood and felt when we become parents.

Very much true. Now when i am a parent, i cannot see any child in miserable condition. The feeling of fear comes in mind... The parents do everything to see their kid happy and having values...
If the kid in the story would have opened the Gita, he would have found his father's love in the form of car.....

Well, It was a God's Gift in the Form of Gita given by his father to his son.

His son was absurd not accepting such a precious Gift and throwing the sacred book. He should be ashamed , guilty, and punitive of it .
