    Default Visa God!

Chilkur Balaji temple's Lord Balaji is the "Visa God". People believe that their visa applications would be approved if they offer prayers at this temple. In the late 1990s, this small temple on the outskirts of
Hyderabad drew just two or three visitors a week.

The temple now draws 100,000 visitors a week, many of whom come to pray to Lord Balaji for visas to travel or move to the U.S. and other Western countries.

The belief is that god helps the people to get visa approved. I can see from your profile that you don't need the help of this god! You already live overseas ;-)

another great feature of this temple is there is no hundi or donation box. u shd not donate any money as offering. it is run by some pvt. persons and is well kept.
though famous as a visa god, people also believe that if they wish something and do pradarshan for 11 times (going around the temple), their wish gets fulfilled and they will hv to come again and do pradarshan as thanxgiving.

When people are feared that their wish might not get fulfilled they become more spiritual and hope that God will listen to their wish and their problem will be no more.

spirituality and wishing for good things to happen by praying to God are all positive thinking and self affirmations. as there is no harm in all these, we can do them. only caution is not to fall a prey to people who try to fool u by posing as "god sent messengers" and ask u to do rituals and pay them in cash or kind.

well said. that's what many "Samiyars" do that. Most of these so called "saints" are fake. they just loot the money. I heard about one saint in TN, that killed people and put them inside the concrete pillars of his new building. there was a movie in tamil long time ago, nooravathu naal (100th day), this incident looks similar to that.
