    mutual fund are safer than the equity share with a less amount of risk in it.

    This is a myth perpetuated by the MF industry. There is nothing safe in this world. If you say bank deposits are safer than equities then you are ignoring the risks of inflation which can erode the value of your money. Every investment has a risk attached to it. What you should look at is the time horizon. If you plan to stick around for another 5-6 years than both MFs and equities are safe.

    It depends on your time horizon. Are you in for short or long haul? For long term, you are better off starting asap. Don't go for short term as you will burn your fingers.

    If you invest in mutual funds through SIP investment plan the you do not have to time the market. SIP allows you to invest regularly in mutual funds. You can invest in the funds that suit your needs. Kotak Mutual Funds offers the mutual funds with a minimum amount for SIP.
